The "Germs" Aliens are a fictional race of aliens from a movie Zim and GIR watch at the start of the episode "Germs".

These insectoid aliens are first seen destroying a city as they invade Earth. This invasion causes the world's scientists to fear for the future of humanity and wonder what they can do to survive, such as by building a space station for all of humankind - or simply all of the scientists - to escape.

However, it was eventually revealed by a female scientist that the aliens are allergic to germs, and thus they are defeated by Earth's army after being sneezed on and explode. Viewing this causes Zim to develop germophobia and a fear that the same thing might happen to him.

Even though they appear primitive, as they don't seem to have the ability to talk, they have space ships equipped with lasers.

Facts of Doom

• The concept of germs being able to kill off and stop an alien invasion is a reference to H. G. Wells' novel The War of the Worlds, where the Martians are killed by simple bacteria.
• The ships used by these aliens also slightly resemble the Martian War Machines from the 1953 film version, and use the 1953 heat-ray sound effect for their lasers.
• Zim considered the movie as "stupid human propaganda", which in his mind makes sense as it's likely that other alien races used propaganda against the Irkens in the past.
• By human stereotypes, these aliens are seen as rather ugly, violent and with a desire to wipe out humanity.
• These aliens, though fictional and briefly seen, had an important role in the episode "Germs" as they were the driving force behind Zim's newly developed germophobia.
• Even though these aliens weren’t seen talking, this doesn’t mean they didn’t have the ability of speech as the shrieks a captured specimen emitted could be interpreted as their language that the movie put in place as interpretation of how humans most likely wouldn’t be able to understand an alien language.
• The species were never given a name.
• Within the Invader Zim universe, the "Germs" aliens are the only fictional species seen so far.
