Capture the Newbies is a online game that was released on the Nicktoons Network website in 2006, and later removed in 2009. It features Zim as the player's supervisor, and other characters from Nicktoons as antagonists.

Plot

You play as an unnamed Irken cadet (possibly a Janitor) capture pests, the titular Newbies, on an unnamed enemy planet. Zim serves as the player's superior. Occasionally, the player would have to face with boss character they would have to capture.

Gameplay

The game is first-person shooter similar to early FPSes such as Doom and Wofenstein 3D. The only weapon appears to a net-gun used to capture newbies. Newbies would attack the player on sight and attack them by charging at them and biting them. Newbies would also try to dodge nets shot at them.

Facts of Doom

• It is unknown why Zim, a well-known criminal throughout Empire, would be allowed to head a mission, nor why the Empire needs to to capture pests on an enemy planet. The most-likely Doylist explanation for this is that the person who made the game did not know much about Invader Zim. A Wotsonian explanation for this may be that the game takes place before Operation Impending Doom or the player is a banish-ee as well and they are both being given a meaningless task to keep them away from rest of Irken society. Additionally, the Empire may need the newbies to analyze the weaknesses of the planet's natives.
• In addition to Invader Zim , the game also features The Adventure of Jimmy Nutron: Boy Genius, Kaput and Zösky: The Ultimate Obliterators, and Watch My Chops (Known outside the United Kingdom as Corneil & Bernie). Of the four, Zim and Jimmy are the only original Nicktoons, while Kaput and Zösky and Watch My Chops are French imports.
  • Interestingly, Kaput and Zösky is also about incompetent alien invaders.
• The game's background appears to be taken from Kaput and Zösky, or at the very least, designed by its creator, Lewis Trondheim.
• The game was, for many years, considered lost after it had been removed form the Nicktoons Network website.
