Car-Nivore is a creation of Zim's which appears in Issue 46 of the comic series.
Summary[]
Car-Nivore is a mechanical beast Zim created by transforming a car into a sentient robotic beast. He states that this is him making full use of the potential that cars have, which he sees humans as wasting by just using them to drive around in (even though, as Dib correctly points out, this is the entire point of why cars are built). it's also stated to have the ability to consume other cars, adding them to itself (making the pun in its name more sensical), though this is never seen in action.
When first seen, Car-Nivore is already in action, Zim attempting to have it devour Dib. In the middle of this, Zim gloats how Car-Nivore will absorb all other cars to grow more powerful and conquer humanity for him. However, because GIR never installed an obedience module in Car-Nivore like he was supposed to, it rebukes this idea, stating that all it wants is to devour other cars. And, for some reason even it doesn't seem to understand, it also has an interest in floral arranging.
Despite this, Car-Nivore still obeys its original orders and tries to eat Dib. But in the process it slams its head against a light pole, triggering its airbags and accidentally ejecting its brain, which kills it. Afterwards, a traumatized Dib takes one of its eyes back to his garage for study.
Appearance[]
Car-Nivore is a yellow car which has been given eyes and a working mouth full of many sharp teeth, mounted on its front grill. Its wheels move more like limbs, though Dib states that they don't appear to do much, while Zim says that they do everything.
Facts of Doom[]
- Car-Nivore appears to be somewhat philosophical, as it notes that it both "exists to destroy" and "destroys to exist", noting the dichotomy of this.
- Its name is a play on the word "carnivore", which means a creature that gets its dietary and energy needs from consuming the flesh of other animals.
