Maxwell Beesworth and his obsession

Maxwell Beesworth is a character who appears in the second quarterly issue of the Invader Zim comic series.

The owner of the Beesworth Honey Mines, Beesworth is a noted cryptozoologist with a particular obsession with the legendary Beeboogoat, a spectral goat/bee hybrid. To try and prove its existence, he hosts an annual cryptid challenge, wherein contestants present supposed paranormal creatures, with the skeptical Professor Membrane acting as the judge.

During the contest shown in Quarterly 2, it appears that just like every year before, no one will have anything real to show. But before the contest can end, Zim and GIR - whom had previously been captured by Dib, who intended to use the contest to expose them - crash on the contest stage. In the process, GIR is covered in honey, dead bees, and garbage, which makes him look like a Beeboogoat. When Membrane's attempts to disprove this fail, due to his DNA scanner accidentally picking up Zim's Irken DNA and not being able to identify it, Beesworth is overjoyed at the apparent validation and has Membrane removed from the scene when he won't accept it.

Beesworth invites Zim to stay in his lodge, and tries to convince him to hand over the "Beeboogoat". Instead, worried that doing so will expose GIR as a robot and therefore him as an alien, Zim tries to escape. Beesworth intercepts and again tries to convince Zim to give him GIR, but then Dib and Membrane break into the lodge to expose GIR as a fraud in order to save the Professor's reputation. Beesworth attacks them with his security measures, which Membrane fights back against; in the chaos, Zim escapes the building and takes control of an exosuit Membrane had promised to loan to anyone who won the contest, which he tries to destroy Dib with. Instead, Membrane destroys the suit, blowing up Zim and GIR.

Beesworth is angry at the apparent loss of his Beeboogoat, only for Dib to reveal to him and his crowd of fans that GIR wasn't really one. Despondent at the truth, Beesworth returns to his mine, where it's revealed that he is in fact a Beeboogoat in a human suit, who was using the contest to try and find another of his kind.
