Synopsis[]
SPOILER WARNING OF DOOM: This section or article may contain spoilers!
Zim orders GIR to get him a "pokey thing". GIR obeys and leaves the base, but is soon confronted by a person from the future, who says that he's come back to stop an army of evil apes from taking over the world. To do so, he gives GIR a cyborg-beaver and tries to tell him when to use it, only for GIR to get distracted by a donut stand.
After helping himself to some donuts, he walks away, only to get hit by a truck while crossing the street. When the drivers see GIR isn't harmed, they take him with them to the lab they work at.
The lab's owner, Dr. Fongo - a self-loathing mad scientist trying to build an army to take over the world - studies GIR. Finding donut crumbs on him, Fongo becomes convinced they're the key to reaching his goals, and has GIR locked up with the various mutant animals he's created. Sharing a nonsensical story about a pig, GIR somehow inspires the mutants to break free and fight their way out of the lab, escaping with the aide of jet packs.
While flying, GIR gets distracted and flies towards the moon, which he imagines has his face and talks to him. He sees a giant pie flying near the moon and flies towards it; the "pie" is actually a spaceship belonging to a race of berry-like aliens called the Bubudaxi, who are planning on conquering Earth. GIR breaks into the ship and tries to eat the Bubudaxi, and their attempts to hide from him sets off some explosives, destroying the ship and causing GIR to crash onto the moon's surface.
On the moon, GIR finds a shrine guarding an ancient evil called The Darkness of Th'Gol. Mistaking GIR (and the cyborg-beaver) for the custodians destined to take the Darkness into the void, the guardians of the shrine set a test for GIR, which he wins by treating it like a dance game.
This unleashes the Darkness, which proceeds to swallow GIR and the beaver before heading towards Earth. But before it can reach the planet, GIR and the beaver start cooking marshmallows inside it; the fire causes the Darkness pain and makes it crash into a coal mine. In the mine, GIR meets a miner and inadvertently inspires him to take up his dream of being a DJ.
After they get out of the mine, GIR and the DJ go to the city. As they arrive, Dr. Fongo and his new army of donut apes invade the city, with the mutant animals flying in to fight him.
The time traveler then shows up to tell GIR that this is the moment to change the future by using the beaver to teach the two armies to dance instead of fight. As GIR forgot the beaver back in the mine with the Darkness, he dances instead, stopping the fighting and bringing peace.
GIR returns to base, where Zim is pinned under an Amoebahemoth, a massive amoeba creature, it's revealed that he sent GIR to find something to poke it and get it off of him.
For a moment, it looks like GIR will use the pin in the "hero" badge the time traveler awarded him, but instead he just kisses the Amoebahemoth, leaving a frustrated Zim trapped as the issue ends.
