Zip is a fictional character based on Zim who appears in the fourth quarterly issue of the comic series.
Summary[]
Frustrated at his inability to come up with any new plans to conquer Earth, Zim puts himself in a sensory deprivation tank for six weeks so that he can scheme without distractions. When he emerges without any apparent new plans coming to mind, he returns to Skool, only to find that all his classmates are now taking a mandated computer typing program hosted by a digital alien avatar called "Invader Zip", which looks and acts almost exactly like Zim. Scared and confused by this, Zim flees the building, only to be confronted by Dib, who reveals that Zip is used for various other programs that have spread to every other aspect of society.
Determined to get to the bottom of this situation, Zim infiltrates the headquarters of the Zip Corporation, which creates all the programs. To his further shock, when he confronts the head of the company he finds a recording from himself; as it turns out, three weeks after entering the deprivation tank, Zim emerged with a new plan he believed to be perfect. He put it into place by creating all the Zip programs, and leaving behind a series of detailed recordings, then went back into the tank for another three weeks to make himself forget the plan, out of the belief that if even he doesn't know the whole plan, no one can figure out how to stop it.
The present Zim is skeptical of this, not understanding why he would make himself forget his plan or why he would name an avatar based on himself "Zip". However, he goes along with the instructions in his recordings, no matter how ridiculous they are, culminating with him activating a transmitter built inside a statue of Zip atop the corporation's headquarters. This triggers a signal that causes all the Zip programs to tell everyone to say "Eeeee" at the same time; the sound of this, amplified by all the other steps Zim took, causes every balloon on Earth to pop.
As it turns out, spending those first three weeks in the tank left Zim in a delusional and manic state, where he thought that his goal was to destroy all the balloons. The present Zim is dumbfounded to realize how pointless this plan was, but convinces himself to accept its success as a victory and proof that he can win anything. However, he is not happy when GIR tells him that his digital avatar was only called "Zip" because it was a typo.
